Highlighted Technology: Catalyst Pre-Attrition for Opacity Reduction
One of Quanta’s patented processes provides a controlled severity pre-attrition of fresh FCC catalyst to improve sphericity of particles, and therefore, circulation and diffusion, as well at reducing the fines (particles smaller than 40 um) and micro fines (smaller than 3 um) that are generated in FCC units upon injection of fresh catalyst. This pre-treatment of FCC catalyst can reduce opacity that results from the generation and elutriation of such fines and micro-fines if they are not captured by the process .
